Seemingly starting out as a exploitation/class struggle story, it centers bulk of its time actually on the entanglements of ethnic rituals, religious zealotry, how they are manipulated for class and gender based exploitation, and the attempted shattering of this said exploitation and authority, in seek of *******, independence and romance free of coercion. The ending carries the same tragic tone as A Noite do Espantalho.
